Peggy Cotter Travel Award Program for Early Career*

NYC ASM Branch Members

 

Dear NYC ASM Members,

We are excited to announce that NYC ASM is now accepting applications for the second annual ASM Peggy Cotter Travel Award.  This award program provides funds for outstanding early career* NYC ASM branch members to attend ASM Microbe June 18th-22nd in Chicago.  ASM is committed to partnering with local Branches to provide opportunities for more members to be exposed to all that ASM Microbe has to offer. These awards help facilitate that commitment and honor Dr. Cotter’s legacy of helping early career scientists. Additional criteria for the award and application instructions are below.  We encourage our members to take advantage of this great opportunity!

*Definition of Early Career: For the purposes of this award, “early career” includes

  1. Postdoctoral fellows (up to 10-years beyond terminal degree)
  2. CLS-MLT-MLS Bench Techs (up to 10-years beyond terminal degree)
  3. Early Career Faculty (up to 10-years beyond terminal degree)
  4. Early Stage Investigators (up to 10-years beyond terminal degree)
  5. NOTE – Students are NOT eligible for this

Amount and Number of Awards:

  • Each award is $1650
  • Up to 3 awards will be given

Use of Awards:

  • Awardees will use the awards to pay for registration, accommodation and travel costs associated with attending ASM Microbe.
  • Awardees will be asked to submit a brief report to NYC ASM about their experiences at ASM Microbe 2020.

Qualification Criteria:

  • Current member of NYC ASM Branch
  • AND being a Contributing, or Premium members of ASM (the national organization) at the time of application/nomination. Supporting, Emeritus, and Honorary members are not eligible for the award.
  • AND having submitted an abstract to Microbe 2020
  • AND being an early career microbiologist
  • NOTE: Students do not qualify for this award.

Submission materials:

  • Current CV
  • Copy of abstract
  • Proof of abstract submission (OASIS confirmatory email from ASM)

Deadline:
